CleanEase Privacy Policy
The short version. CleanEase does not collect, store on a server or upload any of your data. It has no internet permission, so it cannot send anything off your phone. This version contains no advertising SDK and does not use an advertising ID.
1. Who we are
CleanEase is published by Symum apps ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the CleanEase app for Android (the "App") accesses on your phone and what happens to it. It describes the version named above; if a later version handles data differently, see "Changes to this policy".
2. What we collect, and what we do not
We collect nothing. No data from the App is sent to us or to anyone else, because the App has no internet permission. We do not collect personal information, file names, paths, file contents, location, contacts or an advertising ID.
The App creates a random installation identifier and a random session identifier. They exist only on your phone, are used only in the local log entries described in section 5, and are not linked to you.
3. Permissions and what CleanEase can open
- CleanEase requests no Android permissions. CleanEase only opens the folders you choose in Android's folder picker. It asks for no other storage, media or file permission, and you can remove a folder in Settings at any time. Removing a folder releases CleanEase's access to it.
- To decide which folders to suggest, CleanEase checks on your phone whether WhatsApp, WhatsApp Business or Telegram is installed. It checks only these apps, and the result is not sent anywhere.
- If you add a WhatsApp folder, its chats (
Databases) and backups (Backups) are never listed or deleted, and their contents are never opened. Only their total size is counted in the folder's size.
4. On-device processing
Scanning for large, old and duplicate files happens entirely on your device. File names, sizes and contents never leave it.
To show results quickly, CleanEase keeps on your phone, in its private app storage: the list of folders you added, the latest measurements (sizes, file counts, dates), duplicate-comparison results, trash records (where each item came from and when it expires) and your language setting. This information is not included in Android backups or device transfers. Uninstalling CleanEase or clearing its data deletes it.
5. Local log
CleanEase writes basic usage events (for example, which screen was opened or how many items were moved, in rounded ranges) to your phone's system log for troubleshooting. These events contain no file names, paths or folder names, and they are never sent anywhere.
6. Trash
When you delete files, they are first moved into a hidden folder named .cleanease-trash inside the folder they came from. Items are kept for 30 days and deleted permanently the next time you open CleanEase after they expire. CleanEase does not run in the background. Uninstalling CleanEase or clearing its data does not delete these files; they stay in that folder and are no longer deleted automatically.
On Android versions where files in some locations cannot be moved to trash, the confirmation screen says so before anything is deleted; those files are deleted right away and cannot be restored.
Until the trash is emptied or items expire, those files still take up space. File manager apps with "show hidden files" turned on can see this folder; deleting files there deletes them permanently. If you remove a folder from CleanEase or its access is lost, CleanEase can no longer restore or delete that folder's trash items.
7. Third parties and sharing
CleanEase contains no analytics or tracking SDKs. This version also contains no advertising or crash-reporting SDK, and it has no account system.
We do not sell, share or transfer any data, because no data leaves your phone. The App has no internet permission, so it does not contact any server, ours or anyone else's.
8. Children
CleanEase is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your region).
9. Your choices and deleting your data
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on your behalf. You stay in control on your phone: remove folders in Settings, empty the trash, clear the app's data, or uninstall the app. Files that are still in a .cleanease-trash folder are yours: delete them with a file manager if you want them gone.
10. Changes to this policy
This policy describes the version named at the top. If a future version of CleanEase changes what data it handles, we will update this policy at this same address before that version is released, and change the effective date.
